  • As the global energy transition accelerates toward a greener, low-carbon future, photovoltaic deployment is expanding from land to the vast and untapped potential of the seas. Offshore PV is emerging as a new frontier in clean energy thanks to abundant sunlight and immense development prospects. Yet, behind these promising opportunities lie extreme environmental challenges—high humidity, salt mist, corrosion, and continuous waves—that pose unprecedented demands on solar modules.

How can PV systems achieve long-term stable operation and scalable clean energy output under such harsh conditions? HY SOLAR focuses on offshore PV applications, enhancing everything from material protection to rigorous certifications and energy output performance. Our modules are engineered for superior durability and adaptability, delivering clean energy that shines steadily across the vast blue seas.

Superior Salt Mist Resistance for Harsh Environments

    Double-coated glass / Enhanced frame anodization / High-resistance EPE+EPE encapsulant / Multi-layer connector protection

Offshore conditions—marked by high humidity, intense salt spray, and corrosiveness—can cause severe degradation in solar modules without robust material protection, compromising both reliability and cost-effectiveness.

HY SOLAR’s offshore modules undergo targeted material upgrades to counter these threats. The front glass features advanced double-layer coating to prevent moisture ingress, significantly reducing corrosion risk and ensuring long-term cell stability. The frame’s anodized layer is upgraded from AA10 to AA20, dramatically improving corrosion resistance and enhancing structural reliability under prolonged exposure.

The EPE+EPE encapsulant film, selected for its high volume resistivity, offers superior moisture barrier capabilities, further shielding modules from the sea’s humid, salty conditions. Meanwhile, connectors are engineered with double-seal rings and fitted with plugs to block intrusion by moisture and debris during installation. A cold-shrink tube is added for secondary protection, providing dual resistance against water and salt fog.

These comprehensive material innovations enable HY SOLAR offshore modules to maintain outstanding durability and high-efficiency output—even under the most demanding maritime conditions.

Certified for Excellence – Proven Reliability in Offshore Environments

TÜV Rheinland Certification / Enhanced Durability Testing

Offshore deployment requires modules with exceptional reliability to withstand high humidity, salt corrosion, strong winds, and waves. HY SOLAR’ s offshore modules undergo extensive multi-dimensional testing for high heat, UV exposure, aging, loading, and salt spray, earning the TÜV Rheinland 2PfG 2930/02.23 offshore PV certification—the world’s first standard for near-shore PV system reliability.

The modules also pass intensified reliability tests, including Level 8 salt spray, Level 17 wind resistance, 35mm hail impact, and triple HF/TC/DH cycles, demonstrating exceptional mechanical integrity and safety in extreme conditions. These certifications provide strong assurance of long-term stable operation for offshore PV systems.

Outstanding Energy Performance Tailored to Marine Light Conditions

Excellent low-light response / High bifaciality

Offshore PV systems face not only environmental stress but also unique solar conditions. Marine environments benefit from strong sunlight, high surface reflectivity, and abundant diffuse light. However, the rapidly changing light angles at sunrise and sunset demand high photoelectric responsiveness.

HY SOLAR’s offshore-optimized 182/72 bifacial  modules deliver up to 620W output with 24% conversion efficiency. Their superior low-irradiance performance ensures consistent energy yield during overcast or rainy conditions, extending daily generation hours.

With bifaciality rates of 80–85% and up to 30% increased rear-side output, the modules capitalize on TOPCon cells passivated contact design and enhanced module technologies. Front glass with double-layer coatings improves light transmission, while the back sheet’s gap-layer design amplifies secondary light reflection—boosting bifacial performance and ensuring stable output in complex lighting conditions.
